Born in Singapore, raised in Hong Kong, UK and subsequently spending his later years in the US studying at Stanford University, MJ Kuok a.k.a MMXJ is one who has travelled the world and seen it all. A self-taught musician having picked up the guitar at age 8 and the piano 12, his early influences included Jason Mraz and John Mayer. His musical drive then led him to becoming a finalist in the 3rd season of Singapore Idol. He began taking his love for music even further by exploring his sounds in Electronic Dance Music after watching Alesso & Swedish House Mafia perform at the renowned Coachella Arts and Music Festival in California.

In 2015, MMXJ released his debut album, “Into The Wild” with Warner Music Singapore & Ditto Music Worldwide to critical acclaim and great reception. Sonically, MMXJ’s tracks are musically rich and deeply melodic and the album features collaborations with artists such as MYRNE, Gentle Bones, Mae Sta and Reuby to name a few. MMXJ has also since released a Remix EP of his hit single “Kings” which topped Spotify Singapore’s Viral 50 Chart.
